A licensee that carries on an activity of the kind specified by Rule AU-1.4.17 is not a market maker, does not have the ability to deal in financial instruments on terms determined by it and does not use its own financial resources for the purpose of buying, selling, subscribing for or underwriting financial instruments. Such a licensee may however receive or hold assets in connection with an arrangement to secure a client transaction, in its capacity as agent.
