Volume 3 (Insurance) of the BMA Rulebook is issued by BMA pursuant to Legislative Decree No. 17 of 1987, with respect to insurance companies and organisations ("the insurance law 1987"). Article 7 of the insurance law 1987 (as amended), enables BMA to lay down rules and conditions for engaging in the business of any branch of insurance. Other articles in the insurance law 1987 also confer various specific powers on BMA. Where these provide the legal basis for a certain requirement, then these articles are referred to in the Purpose Section of the specific Module concerned.
